From Motorcycles to Systems Engineering… this is where I have been posting stuff I like to think is useful to someone, especially me.

I’m particularly passionate about Motorcycle Engineering, embedded control (Internet of Things), Systems Engineering  and writing code in PHP and various languages (and have been since the late 70’s).

If you are into motorcycles, make sure you get a copy of my book ‘How to Rebuild and Restore Classic Japanese Motorcycles’ which was published by Motorbooks in August 2015. Its pretty much sold out everywhere but Amazon may have some copies left. Hopefully it gets a second publishing. There is a web site dedicated to it at https://sidyoung.com/

I’m working on two more books, one on Cafe Racer’s and another on Scalable Laravel Architecture using Jobs.

My previous home pages are now gone, so references to z900.piczo.com can now be ignored!

My Favourite Quote

“Ars longa, vita brevis, occasio praeceps, experimentum periculosum, iudicium difficile.”

Approximate Translation:

“Life is short, the art long, opportunity fleeting, experience deceptive, judgement difficult.”

In plainer language :

“It takes a long time to acquire and perfect one’s expertise and one has but a short time in which to do it”.

It can also be interpreted as “art lasts forever, but artists die and are forgotten”… (unless you are Michael Angelo, Leonardo DaVinvi)
